“The Man” was a term coined by the antigovernment movements as a way to refer to the government. At the time the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed and the fight for acceptance of blacks by all was under way. This brought Dr. Martin Luther King jr. to meet with the government to work towards the equal rights for all not just the whites. Nixon’s actions of Vietnamization would be the currently accepted policy for Vietnam and this is in order to prevent the “domino theory” in the prevention of the spread of communism. On the issue of women’s rights in the 19th amendment to the U.S. constitution it gives women the right to vote. The laws of America are to give women and all other U.S. citizens’ equality. Cesar Chavez would also be reference for “the man” because he was supported by the government in his actions under the Kennedy administration. Ralph Nader would also be a reference because he is a part of the U.S. government and is in for the betterment of the nation. Overall “the man” is against all social injustices and unrest.
